Employment Preparation

Employment preparation service provided by Immigrant Settlement and Integration Services includes the New Beginnings core workshops: Job Searching, Interviewing Skills and Introduction to Working in Canada. These three workshops are tailored to the needs of newcomer job seekers and are available in both classroom and on-line formats. A practice interview which is videotaped and debriefed is an integral part of the workshop series.

A variety of other workshops are available as needed including Preparing for a Job Fair, Portfolio Development and others. In addition, training is offered in the Computer Lab – either as stand-alone workshops which introduce clients to the “basics” such as word processing, Internet and email, as well as more advanced training such as Powerpoint and Excel.
